As I noted in my previous article, Melinda Doolittle released My Funny Valentine today. I have now bought and downloaded this track and I must say its fantastic.
Building on the already unique arrangement of this song that Melinda performed on American idol, this new version adds a second section of up-tempo beat to make a completely different version from anything anyone has ever done in the past with this song.

It was in the summer that we at Melinda's Backups first came up with the idea of a party for the backups to attend and get to meet each other for the first time. As fans of Melinda Doolittle we had only talked on the internet, following our favourite artist, but never meeting.

At 4:45 yesterday afternoon (UK time) a supportive association to support Melinda Doolittle opened its web site for membership. I have had the privilege of working with lots of talented people to make this happen, and have been honoured to have been asked to be joint webmaster of the web site.

My daughter called me yesterday to say that she had been offered a job at Red Bull Formula 1 team. This is a follow on from the previous post about being a proud father.
But as I came to consider what I should write here a thought crossed my mind. I am just as proud of my other daughter, and yet she hasn't had events that have moved me to consider posting on here.

My name is Alan Chandler, and I have created this site
for me to say a little about myself, to publish my CV on the web, and to provide me with
a platform to express my thoughts on topics which interest me.
When I chose Chandler’s Zen as my site title I did so just because I liked the sound of it. However, when I tried to look up the meaning of Zen I found that most explanations try to express the meaning by means of a story. I ended up with a hazy impression of what the real meaning is, but one that seemed appropriate. For me it seemed to be saying that Zen is an understanding of my place in the grand scheme of things and its connection to the world of here and now. That is exactly what I want to do here.
Not, of course, a full explanation of my life and its meaning, but a place to show little glimpses of it through the medium of short essays around issues that poke into my consciousness. In the same way as when I tried to get an understanding of the meaning of the word Zen and the answer was formed by the messages within the various stories, the understanding of who I am can be derived from the expression of my thoughts found in my articles.
Where is my family? This is after all the chandlerfamily.org.uk domain. The answer is that they wish to remain anonymous. As a result there will be very little about them here.
I will just say that I am married to the beautiful blonde who captivated me over 30 years ago and that we now have two equally beautiful daughters. The eldest has taken the artistic genes from my wife and has recently graduated in Textile Art from Southampton (UK) university. The youngest has taken my engineering genes (I say definitely only mine based soley on a view of my wife’s engineering skills:-) ) and is studying for a Mechanical Engineering degree at Leeds university. She is currently in her final year after taking a year out working with Honda Racing Formula 1 Team
